June

On Tuesday 10 we discovered that bees had started to nest under the eaves at the front of the house.  Luckily the first pest controller we rang happened to be working nearby, and came within the hour to deal with them.

On Thursday 12 Teresa and Jay went out for a special lobster dinner in Oxford.

After a wet start to the month, the weather soon improved and we had our first barbecue of the summer on Saturday 14,  followed on  Sunday 15 by a visit to Malvern for a picnic lunch watching the Band in the Park.

Teresa continued her new hobby, knitting, and finished a knitted waistcoat for herself.

Mike and his mother made their annual visit on Saturday 21, bearing generous gifts as usual, and a fund of stories about their travels in Australia and Iceland.

On a more routine note, we visited Juliet in Oxford regularly, Teresa usually joining Jay at the ice rink for skating.  Roger, meanwhile was well into the bowls season.

The highlight of the month for Teresa and Helen, however, was a visit to Wimbledon on Monday 30 – a lovely sunny day and good seats on Centre Court, where the main match that afternoon featured Andy Murray.
