July

We were lucky enough this year to get two pairs of Wimbledon tickets, for Tuesday 4  July on Centre Court, which Teresa and Jay used, and for Saturday 8 (the middle Saturday) on No 1 Court, which Helen and Jay used.

Right.  A bonus for Helen and Jay was to pass the gold post-box commemorating the Olympic Gold won in 2012 by Charlotte Dujardin for dressage, a discipline much loved by Jay.

Back home, still on a sporting theme, at bowls Roger made his exit from all the Club competitions, but continued playing a variety of inter club matches.

On Saturday 8, Mike and his mother made their annual visit, exchanging gifts and experiences after the usual excellent lunch, cooked by Teresa, and accompanied by a bottle of mature wine, a gift from Mike some years ago.

On the week-end of Friday 21 – Sunday 23  July Teresa and Jay visited Chester – a first for both of them, which they found a welcoming and interesting city.  It is noted for its Roman remains and the distinctive city centre:
