October – November - December

Teresa and Jay were in Portugal for the week of 1 - 8  October, at their usual villa in Albufeira.  At home, Roger had plenty of bowls as the indoor season got underway at Littleton, plus an end-of-season men’s meeting at Overbury.

On Sunday 20 October we went across the road for the Quiz night at our local pub, held once a month.  We enjoy quizzes, but find pub quizzes quite challenging as we are not good at the picture round, and are totally at sea on the music round – either not our era or, if it is, too long ago to remember.  However, we generally went with another bowling couple, who made up for some of our deficiencies, as did Sam and Jay or Helen if they were available.  We aimed for at least a respectable score, and once managed to finish as high as fifth place.

On 1 November Teresa spent the night in Bristol with Helen after seeing a play put on by the local amateur dramatic society.  Roger was again kept busy during the month with his indoor bowls.  Overbury had its AGM.

December was a busy month – Teresa as usual was organising Christmas and the run-up thereto.  On Saturday 14 she and Jay went to a performance of The Messiah in Tewkesbury Abbey, while on the following day Tewkesbury Brass Band held its Christmas concert, which Roger and Teresa attended as Jay is now a regular member.

Both Roger’s and Jay’s cars needed their annual MOT and service, while Roger was troubled by one or two minor medical issues – quickly sorted out by our local practice from which we get very good service.

Some moments from our Christmas celebrations are captured here.

We brought in the New Year with a drink and a chorus of ‘Auld Lang Syne’, time shifted as usual so we were not up too late.  We little knew then what 2020 had in store.
