May
A busy month for
Jay. The AS level exams started, and, since
17, she has been at home on study leave, working hard and conscientiously on
revision. Three papers taken so far,
with the other nine to follow in the first part of June.
Partly for this reason,
Jay cut back on her competition riding.
The only outing in the month was to a showing day at Allens Hill on 1
May, when, unfortunately, Clyde failed to impress. The horsebox passed its MOT at the second time of asking, after a
few relatively minor repairs.
Roger’s bowls season got
properly under way, with inter-club matches and club competitions making for a
busy programme. The month started with
a ‘fun day’ on Sunday 1 in good weather, but all too often since then games
have been played in the rain or cancelled altogether.
Teresa continued to work
hard with her writing, and followed up her first success by selling another
story to The People’s Friend, a humorous item to Readers’ Digest and
a recipe to The Guardian. She
would really like to see her ‘pony-mum’ experiences in print, and had a most
encouraging reaction from one publisher, though eventually it was judged not
suitable for their list.
Helen visited again for a
couple of days. We took her to see the
church at Childswickham, and relaxed at home.
