March
On Tuesday 2
March mumsnet celebrated its tenth anniversary: a haiku competition had been held to select
ten mumsnet members to join all the other guests at
the celebration party. The competition
was judged by Carol Ann Duffy, the Poet Laureate, no less, and Teresa was one
of the winners:

In addition to the party itself, the prize included a
Boden dress of choice to wear at the party, a night
for two at the Marriott Hotel Regent’s Park and supper at a nearby Pizza
Express. Partners were invited, so, as
her guest, Teresa took Helen, who coincidentally works in Regent’s Park, lives
just round the corner from the Marriott and is also a ‘mumsnetter’.
For those who have never been to mumsnet
Teresa arrived at the hotel at about 2 pm and met
Helen shortly after that. At 5.30 they
met the other haiku winners and were taken to Google HQ where the party was
held. There must have been about 200
present: the mumsnet management team as hosts, and a range of media guests. The press and television were also there and
articles/pictures/video reports appeared subsequently in, at least, The Daily Telegraph,

After all the speeches and interviews, the haiku
winners were taken for supper at a nearby Pizza Express, where they were
treated to yet more champagne and the pick of the menu, before taxis were
called to take them back to the hotel.
By the time Teresa rang to report to Roger on the evening it was late –
Teresa thought about 11.30 pm – but actually 12.30 am and Roger was already
dozing in bed, though luckily with the phone still by his side.
All this thanks to Teresa’s winning haiku:
Modern heroines
wicked queens with golden hearts
Mumsnet is legend

And her shoes also got a
starring role:

As Roger’s
indoor bowling season drew to a close, regular mowing of the green at Overbury restarted. He
did his first turn on Saturday 27 – though the continuing cold weather meant
that the grass growth was still slow.
