October

Roger’s winter bowling got under way:  in Toddington (short mat) on Fridays and at Malvern on Thursdays.  At Littleton, he is now playing in an evening triples league on either Monday or Tuesday, as well as the morning league on weekdays.  He audited the Overbury club accounts in preparation for the AGM in November.

Jay took up her research post in Oxford, and settled into her flat, which inevitably presented some teething problems.  Well equipped as it is, she has not yet quite got to grips with the hot water/heating system (all-electric), the plumbing (sluggish), the television (no aerial), the lighting (harsh), the curtains (thin) and the clothes drying (impossible)!  Teresa has visited a couple of times already to help sort things out.

Jay returned home for a couple of weekends, spending most of her time at the stables, where she has been lucky enough to have been offered plenty of riding, including a trip to the fun ride at the Cotswold Farm Park near Guiting Power, which she loves.

On Saturday 30 Teresa met Jay in Oxford for a trip to London to see the hit show Wicked at the Apollo Victoria Theatre.  As train services were disrupted by engineering, they went up on the Oxford Tube coach service to Victoria, which stops in Headington close to Jay’s flat.  At Victoria they were joined by Helen for an hour or two for shopping and snacks before going on to the show’s afternoon performance.  Fortunately all the main cast members took part, not always the case with matinees.
