April

In Oxford on Sunday 1 we paid our first visit to Nando’s, the popular chilli chicken restaurant, and found it bustling with activity, helpful staff and good value food.

Both girls were home briefly for Easter, and we continued to visit Jay regularly in Oxford.  Teresa was delighted to find morris men performing there one day.

On the same day, Teresa once again showed her skill at placing a dedication:  we often drive back from Oxford on a Sunday afternoon listening to BBC Radio Oxford’s programme of Irish music, Irish Eye.  Teresa likes the songs and Roger enjoys the jigs and reels.  The presenter Henry Wymbs read out her email in full and played a Patrick Street track for us.

Roger’s indoor bowling came to an end, and the outdoor season started on Sunday 15, when 50 bowlers took to the green on a fine but distinctly chilly day.  The weather went downhill from then, getting even colder and, of course, very wet before the month was out.  As a result several of the early bowls matches were lost to wet weather and those that went ahead were cold for the players.
