May

Helen visited for a few days at the start of the month, and accompanied us on our weekend visit to Oxford:  we called at the village shop in Enstone on the way back.  We also had an afternoon in Broadway, having tea in a recently opened tea-room attached to the delicatessen.

Teresa has recently taken to knitting, and one of her first productions was a woolly hat, which found a very grateful recipient in Helen, who was so impressed she went back with wool and needles determined to start herself.

On Wednesday 14 it was time to sample another meal at the Lygon Arms in Broadway, a bonus earned by Teresa on her spa loyalty card.  We arrived early, but, unlike an earlier experience, we did not dine in solitary state as several other tables were soon occupied.  As usual, the food was good, and artistically presented.

Our meals can be seen below, in order: our starters (soup and sea-food for Roger and Teresa respectively), the same beef main courses, and white chocolate mousse and cheese platter.

On Wednesday 21 Teresa accompanied Jay to Guildford for Jay’s first skating competition.  Competitive classes are held for a range of ages and skating abilities.  Jay had entered the class for Pre Bronze Adults, without any great hopes, as she had only recently developed a routine and received the music.  However, everything went well on the day, and Jay was thrilled to come first in a class of twelve.

On Thursday 22 we did our duty and voted in the European election.  It was clear that our arrival together represented the rush hour for Toddington.
