Birthdays for both Roger and
Helen this month and Helen was at home for the weekend of 14-16, so we had most
of the family celebrations then. On Friday
evening we opened the presents, some of Roger’s reflecting Teresa’s visit to
On
Monday 17 our Skoda went in for its final free service and its first MOT. No problems as we had replaced the front
tyres, which were wearing low, a few weeks beforehand. While we waited, we were taken into Malvern,
where we looked round the shops in a large retail park, and had lunch in
Morrisons.
Teresa spent much of the last week of the month, and most of the
weekend of 29-30, preparing her entries for the Winchcombe Show on Bank
The weather was unremittingly wet. Roger’s new Wimbledon umbrella was deployed
to protect the exhibits on their way to the marquee, but the canvas itself had
started to leak in places, so tables and displays needed to be shuffled
around. Scarcely seconds before the
deadline everything was in place, and we returned home with fingers crossed.
When Teresa returned to the show later
she was astonished, but delighted, to see that she had won something in nearly
every category she entered: in all, five
first prizes, six seconds and four thirds.
Not only that, but when the results were announced, her efforts had
earned her the overall cup for cooking and baking, and one of her photographs
was judged best in show. Well done,
Teresa.
