January

We saw in the New Year in our traditional way – a few games, a glass of wine with Auld Lang Syne, followed by some fiddling and first-footing.  All time-shifted a little since we’re no longer keen on late nights.  Jay was at home with us, and we saw Helen a couple of days later, meeting up in Oxford for lunch on Sunday 3.

Roger’s indoor bowls resumed, but the main bowling event of the month was the Overbury Bowling Club annual dinner on Friday 29 at the Dumbleton Hall Hotel, a popular and impressive venue for events.  The room, the service and the food were all excellent, and there was a good turn out from members.  A most enjoyable occasion.  The only minus point on a wet and extremely windy evening was the inadequate and ill-lit car-park:  we almost literally had to turn the car round in a rose-bed by the time we got there!
