May

The local
Winchcombe Festival of Music and Arts, takes place in May and on Thursday 23 we
went to see a folk band called Slainte – an Irish name, but some of its
members have local connections. Led
by Joe, a talented vocalist and multi-instrumentalist, they played a succession
of Celtic songs and instrumental sets. Most
of the songs were new to us, but there were several traditional favourites
known to Roger and Jay, some of which we try to play ourselves. Teresa
even managed a photograph (and a hug!) with Joe in the interval.
Among the
other activities sampled by Teresa and Juliet were a ukulele work-shop, while
Juliet and Sam learned to carve wooden spoons.

Roger’s bowling activities got into full swing,
with regular triples on Mondays within the Club, and on Tuesday against other
clubs, in addition to organising and playing in the inter-club afternoon
triples matches for Senior players.
