New Potatoes

It’s June – time to try the new potatoes.  The tops look good – especially where they have been growing in compost.  They’re almost as big as Jay.

We tried one or two last week – barely the size of peas, but today more like chestnuts, and three roots make a generous serving.

There’s nothing quite like the taste of the first lifting of the year, from soil to table in less than an hour:  they melt in your mouth!

Meanwhile, Teresa and Jay stick the latest rows of peas.

Nearly time to try those potatoes – Teresa prepares with a small beer …

… while Roger gets the barbecue under way.

Mmmm ….
