September

Back to school for Jay.  She found that she had gained A* for her two GCSEs (French and German) taken a year early.  She is now in Year 11, the big GCSE year.

Riding remained Jay’s main out-of-school interest.  She was invited to help at the stables on Saturday morning and really enjoyed this.  We agreed to start looking for a pony for her – just for a couple of years until she leaves school, because it’s an expensive commitment.

She went to a nearby saddle shop to buy the smaller items of horse care equipment she will need.  One evening she was lucky:  Leslie Law, our recent Olympic gold medal winner, was there to answer questions and sign autographs.

After a flurry of matches early in the month, Roger’s bowling season came to an end with the closure of the green on the last Sunday of the month – a club ‘roll-up’, followed by a bring-and-share supper and the presentation of prizes for the club competitions.  Roger won a small prize as a runner-up in the drawn pairs competition.
