November

On Sunday 4 November we went to Oxford for a lunch at Lady Margaret Hall and a tour of the college laid on for new undergraduates and their relatives.

On Tuesday 13 we went into Tewkesbury, not visited for some time apart from evening trips to the Roses Theatre.  Our main business was in the Abbey, in the centre of the area so badly flooded in July.

On Monday 19, as one of Teresa’s autumn excursions to a local church, we went to see St Margaret’s at Alstone.

Teresa had an item published in The Guardian – a ‘playlist’ for Jay (see Family section Saturday 4 November), and has also sold a couple more stories to women’s magazines.

On Saturday 24 we went to a Christmas Fayre held in St Andrews church, proceeds to the village school, which was in future to be known as the Isbourne Valley School, as it will be taking on the pupils from the Didbrook village school which has been closed.

The old village hall close to the church had been sold earlier in the year.  It had limited facilities and parking.  Planning approval has been given for a new hall next to the school.  Most of the finance was reported to be in place, so work might be starting in 2008.  A new web-site has details and also some general information about Toddington:

On 30 we collected Jay from Oxford, her first term already over.  She reacquainted herself with Clyde the following day, and also started to drive again – Fizzy having been serviced, MOT-ed and re-licensed earlier in the week.

In the evening, Teresa took Jay to Broadway for one of their late Christmas shopping evenings.

A brass band from Chipping Campden was performing seasonal music …

… and Santa Claus was giving rides up and down the main street.  Teresa and Jay did not require much persuading.
