After the
warm, dry April, May was mostly cool and wet, with just the occasional fine
spell thrown in.
Both on the early and the late Spring Bank Holidays we visited
Broadway. On Monday 7 we found a
farmers’ market in the main street, and Teresa bought a couple of lavender
plants. We ended the visit with a
‘whippy’ ice cream each.
On Monday 28 we
were lucky enough to arrive just as a band of morris men began to perform, and
their jigs and steps enlivened a cool grey morning before we walked on. The sun did break through but for once we
eschewed the ice cream.
Teresa has taken to tapestry while watching
television, and has acquired five of Henry VIII’s six wives (Anne of
Roger’s bowls season was in full swing with both main league
competitions under way – triples (three per side per rink) on Tuesdays and
rinks (four per side per rink on Saturdays, mainly).
Juliet’s
A levels started on Monday 21, but would be only occasional until
mid-June. From half-term onwards she was
on study leave.
Helen has
still been recovering from what her doctor now believed was a bout of glandular
fever. She came back for a break at the
end of the month. We were all pleased to
find that by the time she returned to
