On Friday 1 we visited a small museum in Tewksbury, which was hosting an exhibition of Titanic memorabilia.  Earlier in the day Roger had his annual medical check.  No complications this year.

On Friday 8, Roger’s bowling club held an open evening:  Teresa, Helen and Jay were all able to go:

Roger’s birthday on Sunday 10.  He had a magnificent array of presents, the principal one being a new computer on which Teresa had been working for months to ensure it was all set up for the day with Roger’s favourite software (and some new items to boot).  It is much faster, and Roger will in future use the now common wider screen for his Web pages.  Other presents included TomTom satnav, chocolates, an electricity monitor (from Helen), a new word game, and from both Teresa and Helen a wide selection of well chosen reading matter, particularly some interesting and definitive background books on the Morse novels of Colin Dexter and the associated TV series.

As Helen’s birthday follows closely (on 14), we had a joint birthday meal and most of Helen’s presents as well.  For the birthday cake, Teresa had found this little decoration in the form of a bowler:

Roger had a good run in the bowling club competitions this year, reaching the final of both the men’s championship (level) singles and the men’s handicap singles, but ultimately losing in both finals.

Teresa again entered the Winchcombe Show on Bank Holiday Monday, with even more exhibits than last year.  She won four first prizes – for shortbread, rock cakes, grape jelly and plum and ginger jam, and several other awards, running the overall winner close.

At the end of the month, Jay spent a week at Redcliffe College in Gloucester at a choir course run by the Liturgical Music Courses.  The week concluded with concerts in Malvern and singing at choral evensong in Gloucester and Worcester cathedrals.  Here they are rehearsing in Gloucester cathedral:
